Who Are Aristocrat?
Aristocrat are one of the oldest names in gaming and lay their roots in land-based slot machines. They were founded back in 1953 by Len Ainsworth and launched their very first slot machine that same year. They revolutionised the gaming arena with their launch of ‘The Clubmaster’ in 1956 which was the first machine of its type to offer scattered and multiline payouts. Aristocrat have been leaders in innovation ever since.
Global growth really kicked in when they expanded into Europe in the 1960s although Las Vegas still remained the centre of the gaming industry. They later launched the world’s first electronic slot machine in 1965 called ‘Moon Money’. In the late 70’s they were still pushing boundaries and making headlines with the very first five-reel slot machine and a revolutionary electronic game called ‘Wild West’.
The original 3 and 5 reel slots machines only offered players a limited number of paylines and outcomes as reels had a fixed number of symbols. The invention of the virtual reel meant that certain symbols could be weighted increasing the number of times it could appear on the reels. This created more chances of a win and higher pay-outs which were far more attractive to players.
The 90’s also saw significant growth for Aristocrat, expanding into new markets and being listed as a public company on the ASX (Australian Stock Exchange). New global offices followed shortly after and Aristocrat created a new division called ‘Jubilee’ to cater for these developing markets. In 2000 they secured a Las Vegas gaming license, the world’s largest gaming market with an office opening up later in 2005.
They recruited talented developers from all over the world to create the best online and mobile based slot games. Their acquisition of a company called Product Madness allowed them to take their popular land-based titles to an online audience. With hundreds of new games launching, 2014 saw the awards and accolades rolling in including Casino Product of the Year Award for their game ‘The Walking Dead’ based on the popular TV series and their 5 Dragons Legends game was voted Best Slot Game at the G2E Asia awards.
2015 saw even more launches with some of the most hotly anticipated slots games like Game of Thrones, Sons of Anarchy and The Big Bang Theory. At time of writing Aristocrat are licensed by 240 gaming jurisdictions and operate in 90 countries with 3000 employees across the globe.
Aristocrat have many iconic slots games under their belt, none more so than Queen of The Nile, a player favourite since its launch in 1997. The Egyptian themed 5 reel slot games offers players a great bonus feature with free spins and triple wins up for grabs. Other popular choices include Cash Express, Jackpot Carnival, Mr Cashman, More Chilli, Good Fortune, Goblin’s Gold, Buffalo and Lightning Link.
They’ve nailed it when it comes to capturing the drama of the Emmy Award winning Game of Thrones series with their progressive, feature packed, 5 reel slot game of the same name. Game of Thrones was awarded Best Slot Product at the 2015 Annual Gaming and Technology Awards. Other brilliant branded slots include The Walking Dead and Sons of Anarchy, both not to be missed.
Aristocrat has kept up with advancements in technology and notably the growth of mobile gaming. Several of their slot games have been made available to play on a number of platforms including Apple devices via the App Store.
